Coenonympha tullia (Muller, 1764) (= Coenonympha tiphon Rottemburg, 1775) - Large Heath.
Range: the temperate Euroasia north to the southern tundra zone and south to the mountains of South Siberia and Mongolia, North America.
ssp.: elwesi Davenport, 1941; range: the Altai Mts.
A male; wings closed.
An alpine meadow, at 2200 m above sea level, on the eastern spurs of the Katunskiy Mt. Range, the valley of the Argem (Direntai) stream, Central Altai Mts., West Siberia, Russia. 13th July, 1988. Oleg Kosterin.
