Erebia ligea (Linnaeus, 1758) - Arran Brown.

An example of a biennial species. In some places the species is absent each second year, in anothers its abundance greatly differs in odd and even years. No.10. P. 8-12 [in Russian]. Such a phenomenon is met with in a number of Satyrids and Papilionids (such as Parnassius delphius).

Range: the forest zone of Euroasia, except for the northern East Siberia, ajacent mountains, Pacific islands.

ssp.: eumonia Menetries (= ajanensis auct.); range: the mountains of South Siberia and East Asia.
