Erebia aethiops (Esper, 1777) - Scotch Argus

Range: the temperate Euroasia east to Transbaikalia, north to the southern taiga zone.

ssp.: aethiops (Esper, 1777) - ? monotypical.

A female; wings closed.

A fir/lime forest on a ridge in the Malyi Tesh and Bolshoi Tesh Rivers interfluve 8 km E of the village Kuzedeevo, the famous "lime-tree island" of the forest of a relic species Tilia sibirica Fisch., piedmonts of the Gornaya Shoria Mts., Novokuznetsk District, Kemerovo Province, West Siberia, Russia. 28th July 1996.
