Allium altaicum Pallas (= Allium fistulosum auct. non L.) grows on dry rocks in the mountains of Central Asia, South Siberia, Mongolia and N China.

Rocks on a dry southern slope of small mountains on the Dzhazator River right bank in front of the Akbul Rivulet mouth, between the Yuzhno-Chuiskii mountain range and the Ukok Plateau, the upper Dzhazator River basin, Kosh-Agach District, Altai Republic, West Siberia, Russia. 12th July 1998.
