Parnassius apollo (Linnaeus, 1758) - Apollo.

An internationally protected species. It is sriously endangered in Europe and the lowland West Siberia, in the mountains of Asia still seems to flourish.

Range: Europe, Anterior Asia, Iran, Caucasus, the southern Siberia east to Central Yakutia and Transbaikalia, the mountains of E Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Tien Shan.

ssp.: sibiricus (Nordmann, 1851); range: the elevation Salairskii Kryazh, Kuznetskoe Upland, the Sayans.

A female.

A steep rocky slope of a mountain on the Kondoma River right bank at the raliway station Ushchel'ye 1 km N of village Kuzedeevo, the Gornaya Shoriya Upland (within the Kuznetskoe Upland), Novokuznetsk District, Kemerovo Province, West Siberia, Russia. 26th July 1996.
