Sympetrum frequens Selys, 1883

A Japanese endemic. After emerging these dragonflies migrate high in the mountains where feed until descending to breeding pools (often temporary or artificial, including rice fields) at lower levels. This species often migrates also to the continent coastal regions and there occasionally hybridizing with Sympetrum depressiusculum (Selys, 1841) (Inoue & Malikova,, 2002).
