Aglais urticae (Linnaeus, 1758) - Small Tortoiseshell.

A just hatched pupa, still soft and not fully coloured, which is sucked by a group of bugs (not carnivorous ones!)

Range: the non-tropical Euroasia.

ssp.: urticae (Linnaeus, 1758); range: except for the Pacific islands.

Neetle (Urtica cannabina L.) thickets in ravines on the south- exposed slopes of the mountain Kuku-Khadan on the northern bank of Lake Zun-Torei, Onon District, SE Chita Province, Siberia, Rissia (just at the Mongolian border). 24th June 1995. O. Kosterin.
