Melitaea arcesia Bremer, 1861 (= Melitaea baicalensis Bremer, 1861).

Range: the mountains of S Siberia, Central Yakutia, Magadan Province, Amurland, Primorye, Mongolia, North and Central China.

Ssp: minor Elwes, 1899 (?= carmana Fruhstorfer, 1915): Altai, Tuva, the Sayans.

A male, wings open; on Tripleurospermum ambiguum.

An alpine meadow on a southern slope in the valley of the left headwater of the Chikty Rivulet, 2600 m above sea level, the southern principle slope of the Yuzhno-Chuiskii mountain range, the upper Dzhazator River basin, Kosh-Agach District, Altai Republic, West Siberia, Russia. 10th July 1998.
