A view on a ledge of the southern principal slope of the Yuzhno-Chuiskii mountain range striped with dark-green patches of dwarf birch (Betula rotundifolia Spach; = Betula nana L. ssp. rotundifolia (Spach) Malyshev) tundras, in the direction of the Ukok Plateau (blue mountains on the horrizon). Greyish is a montane tundra with dominance of Kobresia myosuroides (Vill.) Fiori et Paol. (Cyperaceae), fresh green are alpine meadows.

From a ridge between the headwaters of the Chikty Rivulet 2500 m above sea level, the upper Dzhazator River basin, Kosh-Agach District, Altai Republic, the Altai Mts., West Siberia, Russia. 13th July 1998.
